Hellboy!

Here's a piece I drew and colored, myself! I've been beefing up my portfolio and coming up with cover art for many different characters--as well as coloring sequential pages for interiors :)

We can't afford to stagnate. We can only improve :) (and I hope I improved with this one)

I used Copic pens, Copic Markers, and I colored it using Photoshop CS5 through my Wacom Intuos4

Digital Paintings on Corel Painter 12 :)

Been working on Corel Painter 12 a lot for the past few weeks and I gotta say that it really is an impressive program for illustrators. The above are some of the first images I got to paint using the said program :)

MARVEL owns the Hulk (both green and red). Masashi Kishimoto owns Tobi from Naruto.

Krulos from DINO-RIDERS!!!

This piece is hella-nostalgic. When I was a kid, all I wanted to be was a Paleontologist thanks to Jurassic Park. Likewise, I went nuts over my Lego.

Then, enter DINO-RIDERS!

I didn't have the DR toys and for some reason, it was hard as hell to see those here in the Philippines at that time. The next best thing was to make my own Dino-Riders by assembling armor and weapons using lego pieces and attaching them to my Dinosaurs. So, uh, yes, this is one nostalgic piece to work on. Jimbo and Dan are awesome!

Wolverine vs Sabretooth

Hey fellas! It's been a while since I last blogged something here. Again. It's been an insane couple of months. XenoGlyphs just came out in the the US. Get your copies now at http://xenoglyphscomic.com!

As for Marvel, still no word regarding any projects so right now I'm still sharpening my blades and getting my own team assembled. Team of flatters, that is. Right now, I am training a very talented, young artist who I worked with before back in college. He's called Carlos Yapchapco. Or Caloy. Or Yap. But he might not like that.

For those who are interested to join the flatting team, feel free to email me at: peejaycomicart@gmail.com. Send my your details and samples of your work. Thanks!

This is one of the first images Caloy got to flat. Awesomeness :)

Hashirama Senju

This is a piece that I felt I owed myself to finish. You see, I follow the Naruto manga series by Shonen Jump--it's a Japanese comic book/anime series written and drawn by Masashi Kishimoto. And what I do during my down-time is to draw my rendition of characters in that series because, well, they are just so awesome. And for the longest time, I haven't had that much of a chance to draw for me so here we are :)

As I was saying, this series is just way too good. I mean, each character has a backstory that, in itself, can be the basis of their own individual spin-offs. How cool is that? And even the story is amazing: it is linear but branch out extensively and yet still find a singular storyline where it all meets. And this guy here is one of the big guys in the entire plot. He is Hashirama Senju. He's been dead for decades in the current plot but his character has had a huge influence on the entire Naruto world that he still remains relevant.

ANYWAY... I draw this on the back of a thick, 200gsm, toothed watercolor paper. Don't ask why--seemed like a good idea at that time. And it worked. So put that in yer pipe and smoke it. I also used a 2H and a 2B pencil, Copic Multiliner pens, PITT pens (for finishing inks), and Copic Neutral Gray markers.

I will color this soon so watch out! :)

MARVEL Sample page #2 :)

Wow, it's been a few weeks since my last post. I just got home from a long vacation down South of the Philippines in the Visayas area. Got my beach on :)

Anyway, here's another sample page that Marvel got me to work on. Took me a bout a day or two to finish this one--relatives, life and other stuff got in the way. Haha.
