Man Of Steel Unchained

Hey, guys! I've been insanely busy these past few months. To make up for the absence, here's a Superman piece inspired by both the movie and the comic series.

Colored pencils on 11 x 17 HMT board. Image is enhanced by Photoshop.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #23

I love the lines SJ Segovia laid on this piece! I studied more of Laura Martin's style of melding the whole background together with color and avoiding the lazy tendency of just placing gradients on it. :)

Incredible Hulk #340 Re-Creation Art by Mico Suayan

Remakes, more often than not, disappoint. But when remakes work, boy do they KICK ASS. This is the case with Mico Suayan's take on the classic Incredible Hulk #340 cover originally done by the great Todd McFarlane.

Here's the original:

I'll be adding more of Sir Mico's pieces colored by me. Stay tuned!

Avengers #13 cover

This is, so far, the piece that I had the most fun coloring :) The way it all came together was, well, awesome!

The Walking Dead's Andrea and Michonne

Badasses--they're just too fun to draw. And I think Daryl is the only person more badass than these two (yes, I'm a Darylist).

I decided to not work on this piece with markers except for the silhouette of the prison buildings behind them. Turned out ok, I guess, because I got to really 'paint' them when I added color.

A print was made and it was signed by one of the actresses featured in this piece. I'll post it up when I get it! :)

Lineart and colors were both by me.

Batman Rogues Gallery

Last December I announce in my official Facebook page that I'll be drawing a set of five characters based on Batman's rogues gallery. I asked around for suggestions and the following five classic characters came up. Each was painted using Copic Markers and Gouache on 12x18 Watercolor paper and then digitally enhanced.

Enjoy!

The Joker. For good ol' Joe, I wanted to mix both the classic Joker and Heath Ledger's Dark knight Joker. Went well, I think :)
Bane. He is big, I know, but I wanted to make use of stuff other than his size to make him look threatening.

Poison Ivy. I had so much fun with this one. It's nice and colorful and the lighting makes it so kid-friendly and-- WTF, is that a head?! #($*#)(*()#$

Scarecrow. The doctor is in! I based my design on the Batman TAS Scarecrow that had a noose on his neck. In my opinion, that's the creepiest version of the Scarecrow.

Two-Face. I did this while still learning how to use gouache properly. Dent did something, obviously, but the liability is not there because of the coin. And the 'other' person just loves it.

Solestar cover: Final version

It's always good working with people who have strict standards when it comes to their work. It brushes off on you and, take note, it makes you a better artist. This is what happened when I had to do some tweaking on the Solestar cover that Sean Galloway did.

After the first image was submitted, Sean had a few corrections and some suggestions. It was pretty awesome working under the direction of one of the best there is, I tell ya! And, well, he appreciated that I took every suggestion openly:

And here we are with the final version of the cover! According to him, the character in the front, which is Boom, should have colors and elements that should tie in with the big bad monster at the back named Cloud. It all worked awesomely ^_____^

Solestar Cover!

Hey, fellas! This is a cover for Solestar, a comic book that was mean to raise funds for brain aneurysm research and for its victims. The project is spearheaded by Siike Donnelly, who, himself, is a survivor.

The project got over 60 professional artists from around the world to pitch in and contribute through whatever means they can. I got to illustrate a page, I got to color 2 pages and then I got word from Siike that I'll be coloring a cover--drawn by no other than the epic Sean Galloway!

So here it is! THANKS!

Another collaborative piece I did with Ms. Aileen Oracion! It's nice how Top Cow Artifacts characters have that "thing" in their names. I can't quite put a finger on it but their names all seem so cool.

Anyway, this piece was colored through Photoshop! I'm actually thinking of posting a Step-by-step blog in the future to show my process. Whatchathinks?

Hey, guys! Happy New Year! My blog-related New Year's resolution revolves around me actually updating my blog for all of you :) Yes, I find that I get lazy so I am very sorry.

Anyways, here's my first collaborative piece with the very talented Aileen Oracion (http://inkworthy.deviantart.com).
