Here is the first set of images the Marvel got me to work on as a test. I had a lot of fun doing these, I gotta say :)

Hashirama Senju WIP #1
Being the new and improved blogger that I am, I decided to upload this WIP piece.
So far I am about 50% done with the traditional drawing portion of the work. I use Copic Multiliner pens, Copic Sketch markers, and white Gelly Roll pens for the highlights.
I usually draw everything traditionally--starting out with pencil sketches then tightening it with inks and then markers. I personally like this method over using purely digital methods because the little quirks and personal touches can't be copied in photoshop at times. Drawing traditionally also, for me, has a somewhat spiritual quality to it that no amount technology can duplicate.
After I'm done with this, only then will I go digital and add in colors and effects.

Rogue x Gambit
This is one of the pieces I submitted to Marvel as part of my sample set--well, it wasn't part of the actual portfolio but I included it in the email Mr. Cebulski instructed me to send them. Lineart was done by the awesome Paulo Sequiera.
I find that simply filling the white spaces with color is not enough 90% of the time. In my method of coloring, I tend to alter the color of the lines, themselves to give a sense of unity between the lines and the colors in the white space under them. It also separates the actual figure that has that color and the other elements surrounding it.

Okay!
Ok, so heeding the advice of Mr. C. B. Cebulski, I am now more focused on working on a blog.
Originally, this blog was meant to showcase a series of comic shorts about stuff. Seeing as I live a busy life--you know, saving the world and shit--making shorts went from difficult to impossible.
Updates:
1. I now have a dog. I tiny puppy named Rex. His breed? He's a goddamn Theropod.
2. I was picked as one of the 35 folks who were singled out by Marvel VP for Creator and Content Development from the 240+ guys who submitted portfolios. He told me that they'll "take me out of Nursing."
3. I decided to pick this blog up again.
4. You've reached number four, congratulations.
So there you have it! I promise to post at least 1 blog every week so as not to waste your time.
Later!
